Portsmouth - Thelma J. Butler, 60, passed away Saturday, August 25, 2012. She is preceded in death by a son, Josh; and a step-son, John.
She leaves behind her husband Rodney; a stepson Michael; her mother-in-law, Marie Padgett; and two brother-in-laws, Johnnie Butler and Billie Butler.
Thelma also leaves two brothers Robert Jacobs (Ruthie) and Dan Jacobs; and two sisters, Janice Vick and Lois Little (John); nieces and nephews of "Nummie", Ginna Vick, Jennifer Fergerson, John R. Little, Jeff Jacobs and Mary Beth Ballard.
Thelma was part owner of Phoenix Hairstyling and worked in Churchland area for over 35 years. She had a green thumb and grew some of the most beautiful flowers in her yard.
A memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Thursday, August 30, in Centenary United Methodist Church at 3312 Cedar Ln. Portsmouth. Burial will be private.
