Louis Edelstein, 53, the beloved husband of Ann Lambert-Edelstein and loving son of Regina Edelstein, died Dec. 7, 2000. Louis was predeceased by his father, Leo Edelstein.
He was a lifelong resident of Portsmouth and proudly employed by Norfolk Naval Shipyard as a rigger foreman of Shop 72 for 25 years. He graduated from Cradock High School in 1967 and earned his B.A. degree at the University of Northern Colorado in 1971, after which he was called to service by the U.S. Army. Louis was a Vietnam veteran. He was a member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church where he was active in Men in Mission.
In addition to his wife and mother, Louis is survived by his aunt, Margaret Sexton of Philadelphia; his brother, Harry Edelstein and his wife, Jay, and their son, Harry Jr., of Portsmouth; a son, Todd Edelstein, and daughter, Sharon Devine and her husband, Kenn, all of Portsmouth; a son, Gary Brocksmith of Yorktown; and his Aunt Pat and Uncle Alfred Edelstein of Cincinnati, Ohio. Also left to treasure his everlasting love and many wonderful memories are his three grandchildren, Kip and Kelli Stabler and Johnny Devin, all of Portsmouth.
Those who knew and loved Louis are invited to his funeral at 2 p.m. Monday at St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Portsmouth. Interment will be at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens in Suffolk. Friends may say good-bye and celebrate Louis' reunion with Christ at Snellings Funeral Home, High Street, West, Portsmouth, from 7 to 9 p.m. today.
