Portsmouth, VA – Douglas Wayne Aydlette, 57, formerly of Virginia Beach, went to be with the Lord on November 9, 2002. He was born on May 13, 1945 in Portsmouth,VA; he was the first single birth at Maryview Hospital. He graduated from Cradock High School in 1964 and was a member of Cradock Methodist Church.
Doug served in the US Army and was a 10-year veteran of the Virginia Beach Police Department. He was a member and past president of the F.O.P. Lodge #8 and past president of the Thalia Lions Club, as well as a member of the Brentwood Moose Lodge. Doug was a co-owner of Aydlette-Womack Association and Virginia Rating System. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thelma R. and Robert W. Aydlette, Sr.; 2 brothers, Robert W. Aydlette, Jr. and William T. Aydlette; and a sister, Sandra A. Wallace.
He is survived by 2 daughters, Shannon R. Holmes and her husband Scott of Virginia Beach and Shelby Leigh Aydlette of Portsmouth; a brother, James Aydlette of New York; 2 sisters, Nancy Evans of Portsmouth and Sharon Pittman of Windsor, VA.; his companion, MaryAnn Loulies of Portsmouth; former wife, Jerri C. Aydlette of SC; and several nieces, nephews, and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, November 12, 2002, at Kellum Funeral Home, Bonney Road Chapel. The family will receive friends from 7-9:00 PM on Monday, November 11th at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.
