PORTSMOUTH - Glenda Rae Hewlett Bracy, 61, affectionately known as “Nanny,” of Afton Parkway, died Oct. 18, 2005, in Maryview Medical Center. A native of Portsmouth, she was the daughter of the late Elwood Ray Hewlett Sr. Mrs. Bracy was a master floral designer for more than 30 years, a member of Fairview Heights Baptist Church, past president of Allied Florists of Virginia and past president of the Teleflora Association.

Survivors include her husband, Bobby G. Bracy; her mother, Lucille Rasnick Hewlett of Portsmouth; her mother-in-law, Mildred V. Bracy of Chesapeake; one daughter, Carolyn B. La Liberte and husband Gerald of Portsmouth; three sons, Darin G. Bracy and wife Chandra of Elberon, Va., Eric F. Bracy and wife Judy of Newnan, Ga., and Michael P. Bracy of Portsmouth; seven grandchildren, Cpl. Jason Hanbury, Erica Bracy, Thomas Bracy, Ryan La Liberte, Brittany Hanbury, Ashlynne Bracy and Aftyn Bracy; and two brothers, Elwood R. Hewlett Jr. and wife Tilly of Portsmouth and Robert Hewlett and wife Mary of Chesapeake.

The family will be at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, Friday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 2 p.m. in Fairview Heights Baptist Church. The family will receive friends in the church Fellowship Hall following the memorial service.
