Portsmouth - Tonya Joan Poppell, 17, of 203 McLean St. died Sunday at 4:30 p.m. in a Portsmouth hospital.

A daughter of Ethell Poppell and Mrs. Fannie Lou Seidman and a native of Waycross, Ga., she lived here 13 years.

Besides her parents she is survived by two brothers, Larry Chan Poppell and Terrill Lane Poppell of Portsmouth, and her paternal grandmother, Mrs. E. L. Poppell of Waycross.

The body was taken to Sturtevant Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held in Academy Park Baptist Church today at 2 p.m. with burial in Olive Branch Cemetery.
