CHESAPEAKE - James Lane Robertson, 65, passed away Monday, May 8, 2006, in a Chesapeake hospital.
Mr. Robertson was a guidance counselor at Elephant’s Fork Elementary School in Suffolk. Jim coached varsity baseball at John F. Kennedy High School in Suffolk for 15 years and was the first coach to win the Peanut District Title. After his graduation in 1960 from Cradock High School, he pitched professionally for the Portsmouth Tides for a brief time. He received his bachelor’s degree from Atlantic Christian College and was also a recipient of a master’s degree.
Jim is survived by his beloved wife of 39 years, Sarah Lewis Robertson; two sons, Ryan James Robertson and his wife Marcy and their daughter McKenzie Noel Robertson, all of Suffolk, and Ross Lewis Robertson of Virginia Beach; two brothers, Lloyd C. Robertson Jr. and wife Betty and their children Donna Civitello and William Robertson and Dr. Richard L. Robertson and wife Lura Alice of Radford, Va., and their children, Dr. Richard Robertson, Mary Beth Greer and Lura Ann Pitchford; and a sister-in-law and her husband, Laura and Jerry Eaves of Georgia.
