Robert Willis Swindell Class of 1957 | PORTSMOUTH - Robert Willis Swindell, 71, of the 4700 block of Viola Terrace, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2010. He retired as a captain for the Portsmouth Fire Department and was a proud Navy veteran. Willis enjoyed flying his control line airplanes, and was a member of the Norfolk Aero Models Club. He survived by his wife, Bernadine Swindell; two daughters, Victoria Kelley and husband David and Tia Stout and husband William; a son, Robert E. Swindell; five grandchildren, Robert, Joshua, Alaina, Elizabeth and Samuel; his beloved cat, Tiny; and a host of other friends and extended family. A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 20, in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, by the Rev. Tom Potter. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
