Barbara Ann Smith Butler, 60, of the 1800 block of Rollis Road, died Nov. 8, 1999.
Born in Pinetops, N.C., she retired as an employee relations specialist from Human Resource Service Center East, Portsmouth, and after 25 years service with the federal government.
Barbara attended Cradock High School and graduated in 1957. She was a special dear person to her classmates. She married her childhood sweetheart, Johnny Butler and was a devoted spouse and mother for many years.
Survivors include a daughter, Bonita E. Rogers and her husband, Edward III, of Chesapeake; two sons, John W. Butler III and his wife, Cindy, of Copperas Cove, Texas, Michael R. Butler of Raleigh, N.C; a sister, Sarah Senn and her husband, Mickey, of Portsmouth; two brothers, Walter Smith of Richmond and Carlton Smith and his wife, Kaye, of Fayetteville, N.C.; and seven grandchildren, Christopher, Tara, Brandon, Conner, Brittany, Eddie and Hannah.
A graveside service as held at. in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens by Pastor Jack Shaw. The family received friends at Snellings Funeral Home, Churchland Chapel.
