Larry Donald Yates, 65, of the 2000 block of Cunningham Drive, Hampton, died Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2001, at his residence.

A native of Reidsville, N.C., he worked in the maintenance department of MDV-Nash Finch Corporation. He was also in the beauty supply business for 30 years.

He is survived by his mother, Mary Frances Yates of Chesapeake; six grandchildren, Jacob and Jimmy Cole, Chelsea and Cameron, Casey and Kyleigh; three stepsons, Rich, Mike and Chris Jackson and their wives, Amy, Kim and Kelly; best friend and pervious wife, Merrilyn Sue "Susie" Muller of Fort Myers, Fla.; two uncles; one cousin; and many friends.

A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. today at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2730 Ellsmere Ave., Norfolk, VA 23513.
