CHESAPEAKE - John T. “Dumpy” Wilkins Jr., 68, of the 3500 block of Mardean Drive, died in a local hospital on Jan. 1, 2005. Mr. Wilkins is survived by his wife, Cindy; a daughter, Michelle W. Coleman; two stepdaughters, Christy Rose and Shannon Johnson; two sons, Damon and Steve Wilkins; and five grandchildren, Wesley and Courtney Rose, Bailey and Hunter Johnson and Stuart Wilkins; two sisters, Judy Shires and Francis Quick; and three brothers, Donald, Harold and Joe Wilkins.
Mr. Wilkins was employed by Car Quest Auto of Churchland. He was also employed for more than 20 years with the Kelloggs/Mrs. Smith’s Pie Company of Portsmouth and retired from Mama Kayer’s Bakery of Norfolk.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, the Rev. George Presson will officiate. Entombment will follow the service at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Monday at the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and on Tuesday following the services at their residence.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 2730 Ellsmere Ave., Norfolk, VA 23513, in memory of John T. Wilkins Jr.
