Portsmouth – Hope Laylor Carmines, 47, of 4800 Colonial Lane, a native of Portsmouth and a lifetime resident of the area, died Sunday in a hospital, She was the wife of Ralph Thomas Carmines and the stepdaughter of Joseph N. and Helen Orbam of Portsmouth.

She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church and was a former member of Beta Sigma Phi.

Other survivors include a daughter, Leslie N. Carmines of Portsmouth; and two brothers, Ralph Carmines and Jeff Carmines, both of Portsmouth.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Snellings Funeral Home, Churchland Chapel, by the Rev. Ernest Hogge. Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery. The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today.
