Yorktown – Frances Creamer Newcomb, 45, of 403 Meadowfield Road, a registered nurse, died Friday in a Newport News hospital. She was a native of Portsmouth and the wife of Arthur L. Newcomb Jr.,

She was a member of Crook’s United Methodist Church; International Order of Job’s Daughters Bethel 11, of which she was a past honor queen; and Cradock Chapter 16, Order of the Eastern Star. A 1957 graduate of Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters School of Nursing, she was employed as a nurse by Dr. Travis Edwards.

Other survivors include a daughter, Patricia Newcomb, and a son David Newcomb, of the home; her mother, Bessie Creamer of Suffolk; a sister, Carol Johnson of Portsmouth; two brothers, Ronald W. Creamer of Portsmouth and Arthur P. Creamer of Tappahannock; and maternal grandmother, Lizzie Perry of Suffolk.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday in Crook’s Memorial United Methodist Church by the Rev. Jack Lynch. Memorial donations may be made to Children’s Home Society, 4200 Fitzhugh Ave., Richmond, VA. Emory Funeral Home, Grafton, has charge of arrangements.
