Malcolm Leroy Bright (Mac), 76, passed away in his home surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012.

He was a native of Pasquotank County, N.C., a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Smithfield, Va., and a Past Master and former treasurer of Portsmouth #100 Masonic Lodge. Mac was an Air Force veteran and retired as a supervisor at SUPSHIP.

Mac was the son of the late Ruby and James P. Bright . He was also preceded in death by his sister, Nancy S. Barnes of Florida.

Mac is survived by his devoted wife of 41 years, Jacqueline Rose Bright of Smithfield, Va.; their son, Robert J. Hasty Jr. and his fiancé, Debbie Wood of Smithfield; grandchildren, Christopher J. Hasty of Smithfield, Va., Brittany L. Hasty of Hampton, Ashley N. Dupuis and Roberta J. Baker, both of Portsmouth; great-grandchildren, Celeste Hasty, Ayanna Powell, Harleigh Dupius, and Naomi Baker; sister, Joyce Ann Donovan of Portsmouth; brothers, William K. Bright of Chesapeake, L. Wayne Bright of Virginia Beach, James C. Bright of Chesapeake, Warren L. Bright of Portsmouth, and Andrew L. Bright of Indiana; many nieces, nephews and other devoted family members and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, at Calvary Baptist Church, Smithfield, Va., by Pastor Dan E. Gray. The interment will follow in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, with military honors and Masonic Rites. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the funeral service.
