Curtis Bass

 

PORTSMOUTH - Curtis Overman Bass, 71, of the 800 block of Arnold Palmer Drive, passed away Sept. 28, 2007. He was a native of Tarboro, N.C. and was retired from Norfolk Naval Shipyard as an engineering technician. He was a member of I.F.P.T.E. Local No. 1 and the Ambassador Club for 28 years where he was a past president and currently serving as treasurer. Curtis was a member of the Coast Guard Reserves for 32 years.

 

Survivors include his wife, Barbara W. Bass; a daughter and son-in-law, Tracy and Chip Wright of Portsmouth; a sister-in-law, Mary Ricks and her husband Paul of Chesapeake; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and special friends, "The Crab Eaters."

 

A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the graveside in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens by Taylor Wyant. The family will receive friends at the Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, from 7 to 8:30 today. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Needy Fund of The Ambassador Club, P.O. Box 7368, Portsmouth, VA 23707.
