Mary Ruth Smith, 71, passed away on June 30, 2004. She was a native of Portsmouth and the daughter of the late William E. Fentress and Otelia Ruth Byrd. She was a member of the Retired Cradock Admirals, Class of 1950.

Mrs. Smith is survived by three daughters, Pamela Sue Smith and Michele Lucado of Portsmouth and Kimberly A. Supan of Chesapeake; three granddaughters, Danielle Talbert, Hannah Supan and Sarah Supan; two great-grandchildren, Buddy Talbert III and Kelsey Talbert.

The visitation will be held in Altmeyer Funeral Home, Virginia Beach Chapel, Monday, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. The funeral will be held at the Western Branch Community Church by Pastor Jim Wall on Tuesday at 1 p.m. Burial will follow in Olive Branch Cemetery.
