Retired USMC Col. Clovis ''Buck'' C. Coffman Jr., 69, of the 900 block of Earl of Essex Arch, died Aug. 27, 2001, at his residence.
Born in New Orleans, La., Mr. Coffman was a retired colonel of the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a decorated and distinguished veteran who earned a Navy Cross; three Silver Stars; five Bronze Stars with ''V''; Airmedal with ''V''; seven Purple Hearts; and Recreational Pilot and Solo Pilot certificates. He was a member of Lynnhaven Masonic Lodge No. 220; Khedive Temple of the Shrine; life member of Disabled American Veterans; Virginia Beach V.F.W. Post 392; Force Reconnaissance Association; Marine Corps League Detachment and Legion of Valor.
Mr. Coffman is survived by his wife of 46 wonderful years, Barbara N. Coffman; a daughter, Sheri Lynn Coffman of Virginia Beach; a son, David A. Coffman of Virginia Beach; his mother, Alice R. Prestridge; a sister, Anne Emmerson; and a nephew, Stephen Emmerson, all of Las Vegas.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Neck Chapel, by the Rev. Ernest L. Trueblood. Burial, with military honors, will be in Princess Anne Memorial Park. Family will be at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Shriners Burn and Crippled Children's Hospital, 645 Woodlake Drive, Chesapeake, VA 23320.
