VIRGINIA BEACH - Norma Hope Harrell Ortt, 85, passed away Aug. 2, 2008.

Mrs. Ortt was born Nov. 18, 1922, in Portsmouth, to the late John Bryan Harrell and Thelma Flynn Harrell. She attended Cradock High School, Averett College and the University of North Carolina. She was a piano teacher for many years in Portsmouth (Cradock) and Virginia Beach (Shadowlawn). She was predeceased by her husband, Herbert R. Ortt and her sister, Phyllis H. Bradford.

Survivors include her son, John R. Ortt and his wife Veronica; her uncle, Blake H. Congleton Jr. and his wife Sara, all of Virginia Beach; and two granddaughters, Jeannette Ortt of Joppa, Md. and Melanie Ortt of Virginia Beach.

A funeral Mass will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Virginia Beach with the Rev. Steve DeLeon presiding. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Laskin Road Chapel, is handling the arrangements.
